Microwave

High-frequency microwave transmission has been the standard mode of terrestrial communication used by telephone companies and broadcasters (FM) for many years. Microwave signals are transmitted by highly directional dish-shaped antennae in both terrestrial and satellite communication. Microwave transmissions can be modulated to carry both analogue and digital signals for voice, video, or data communication. Instructional television fixed service (ITFS) uses microwave transmission for narrowcasting.
