| ITFS is a low-cost narrowcasting system used by many U.S. college and school systems
for teleteaching over small areas (covering a radius of about 25 miles from a microwave
transmitter). ITFS studios are relatively small and simple to use compared with
professional TV broadcasting studios. So it is fairly easy for a teacher or instructor to
put together TV lessons using some live material and some prerecorded material and even to
have a telephone feedback link allowing students in the remote classroom viewing centers
to ask questions. Some ITFS systems feed into cable networks so that lessons can be
redistributed to home-based viewers. Resources on ITFS (external links)
