Mexico: Rural Development in Marginal Areas Project

The Rural Development in Marginal Areas Project seeks to improve the well-being and the income of smallholders in about 24 targeted marginal areas, which are among the poorest of the country, through sustainable increases in productivity and better food security.

A key institutional reform support by this project is to build on the existing policy and institutional framework. It does not pursue key policy and institutional reforms but rather focuses on strengthening the on-going capacity building effort in support of the decentralization process and progressive delegation of decision-making responsibility at the local level.
