Decentralization
and sub-national economic development are complex phenomena. With
the aim of promoting a more informed, consistent and comprehensive
approach to these topics, the site presents selected assessment tools,
identifies best practice, and international benchmark data. We identify
selected toolkits to help practioners frame the issues, and highlight
examples that have implemented applied best practices. Structured
assessments of various fiscal, political, and administrative dimensions
of decentralization have been extended to put countries in a comparative
perspective, as can ways to measure sub-national disparities. These
can provide a rough benchmark of how developments in respective countries
or regions compare to international practices, and identify catered
strategies for the challenges at hand.
