Understanding Children's Work
(UCW) Project
|
|
|
The
Inter-Agency Research
Cooperation Project:
Developing New Strategies
for Understanding Children's
Work and Its Impact (the UCW
Project) is a joint activity
between the ILO, UNICEF and
the World Bank. Its
objectives are to improve
child labor research, data
collection and data
analysis; to enhance local
and national capacity for
child labor data collection
and research; and to improve
the assessment of existing
interventions in this field. Databases, developed from
various agency surveys, on
the extent and indicators of
child labor are available on
this website. These are searchable by
country, year and many other
criteria; a database of
child labor-related projects
organized by agency,
country, year, and
agency-specific project
categories can also be found
on this inter-agency
website. There is also a
selected bibliography on
child labor and related
subjects, and a series of
downloadable research
reports generated by the UCW
Project.

Living Standards Measurement Surveys
(LSMS)
|
|
|
Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) household surveys have become an important tool in measuring and understanding poverty in developing countries. The Development Economics Research Group (DECRG) of the World Bank, formerly the Policy Research Department, maintains this website to make available to researchers around the world the data sets and methodological lessons from these
surveys.

World Development Reports
|
|
|
The World
Bank's annual World Development Report (WDR) is an invaluable guide to the economic, social and environmental state of the world today. Each year the WDR provides in depth analysis of a specific aspect of development. Past reports have considered such topics as the role of the state, transition economies, labor, infrastructure, health, the environment, and poverty. The reports are the
Bank's best-known contribution to thinking about
development.

and more complete picture of
the child labor problem
across the world - by

UNICEF Statistics
|
|
|
This website provides
information on key UNICEF
statistical databases,
including the Multiple
Indicator Cluster Surveys
(MICS). By 1996, 60
developing countries had
carried out stand-alone
MICS, and another 40 had
incorporated some of the
MICS modules into other
surveys.
