The first day’s activities aimed at
Constructing an Integrated Framework for Local
Development. In the “Achieving Development Goals at the Local Level” breakout activity, participants reflected on this framework’s application in their countries.

The second day focused on Moving Toward
Integration, and included two sets of activities: Sharing Country Experiences: both in plenary sessions and in smaller breakout sessions, multiple country case studies illustrated some of the ways that countries around the world have been moving toward a more integrated approach to local development, departing from quite different entry points and in quite different contexts.
Parallel sessions provided participants with insights on
how this framework applied to different social, political, and economic contexts, while also enhancing operational skills and capacities for supporting local development.
The theme of the final day was Building Consensus and Motivating
Action. In the “Fostering Integration from a Donor’s Perspective” session donors discussed their perspective on local development.
The “Stakeholders’ Perspectives on Local Development” workshop engaged participants in a consensus-building activity to determine with what actions their stakeholder group could support an integrated approach to local development. During lunch, Steen Jorgensen addressed the question of “How Local Development Supports Inclusion, Cohesion, and Accountability”. In the closing plenary, conference sponsors encouraged further cooperation and action to realize this integrated approach to local development.
